Police at 6:30AM on Sunday morning 10 Adar, received a call reporting a fire in the Bayit Vegan neighborhood of the capital.

The area was closed down and firefighters began evacuating residents. A woman in her 60s was transported to nearby Shaare Zedek Hospital in very serious condition after being pulled out of a first floor apartment on Bayit Vegan Street, a four-story building.

Hospital officials report the woman arrived in critical condition and she remains on a respirator in an intensive care unit.

Firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to other apartments. The blaze is under investigation.
