IDF Clemency Program Underway

(Wednesday, August 27th, 2008)

As is the military’s custom from time-to-time, the IDF has launched a clemency campaign, calling on reservists and former soldiers to bring back military equipment taken illegally, ‘no questions asked’. In the past, such campaigns resulted in the recovery of quantities of valuable equipment and judging by the first day of the current campaign, the present effort will not disappoint.

On day one of the program, Tuesday, two MAG-58 heavy machineguns were returned, along with two M-16 assault rifles, two M-4s, one AK-47 Kalashnikov assault rifle, mortar shells, and grenades, a G’lilon machinegun, a two-way radio, and no less than 3,000 bullets, magazines and an array of other military items.

One may anonymously bring any IDF equipment back to any police station or Katzin Ha’Ir office until the end of the current campaign on 25 September.
