The closure of Bangkok airport resulted in an El Al flight from Tel Aviv to divert, landing 100 kilometers (60 miles) away in a locale called Pataya.
According to a foreign media report, widespread rioting resulted in the closure of the Bangkok Airport to all flights. Thousands of travelers found themselves in the airport as a result, including an unspecified number of Israelis.
