Olmert Says ‘No’ to Humanitarian Halt in Offensive

(Wednesday, December 31st, 2008)

olmert3.jpgPrime Minister Ehud Olmert met once again with his senior ministers, Defense Minister Ehud Barak and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, along with IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi, ISA (Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet) Director Yuval Diskin to discuss the ongoing IDF offensive against Hamas-based terror in Gaza.

Following the high-level meeting, the decision was made to reject calls for a 48 break in the offensive which supporters feel would provide a window of opportunity to permit humanitarian aid to Gaza.

It appears Israel is sending a clear message to Hamas, that the situation reached the ‘point of no return’ and Israel is now determined to dismantle Hamas’ advanced military abilities.
