US House Calling for Stepped-Up Sanctions on Iran

(Thursday, October 29th, 2009)

iran4.jpgThe US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee has approved increased sanctions against Iran, to halt delivery of refined petroleum products which are essential for Iran’s fuel production. The lack of the refined product will halt Iran’s crude oil production and it will have a significant impact on the economy.

US President Barak Obama has not included the refined petroleum in boycotts to date for fear of impacting the civilian population, but the House is now taking a stronger position in light of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s continued brazen defiance of the international community.

Addressing the committee meeting, Rep. Dan Burton stated that American must step up sanctions for if the uranium enrichment continues; there is a growing likelihood that Israel will respond militarily, a move that would create regional military clash.

Ahmadinejad has clearly stated his nation has the right to develop nuclear energy and as such, he will not halt the ongoing nuclear enrichment program.

“Calling” for action is just faking it. Nonetheless, clinton, as Secretary of State, will block any policy against Iran. “This house is divided and will not stand.”
