(Friday, March 26th, 2010)

A 7-year-old boy, a child in the Belze community in Haifa, was struck by a vehicle and seriously injured in erev shabbos. The child ran out into the street, not at a crosswalk, and was struck on Michal Street by a vehicle driven by a member of the area’s Seret Vishnitz community.

United Hatzolah volunteers were first on the scene, and the child was transported to the trauma unit of Rambam Medical Center by MDA paramedics.

According to eyewitnesses, the driver did not have much of chance to stop, telling police accident investigators that the child simply ran out into the middle of the street.
