The rumor is that Benjamin Netanyahu wants the Knesset to extend Shimon Peres term as president of Israel for two extra years, until the summer of 2016, which will be a year before the next scheduled general election, Yossi Verter reported, Saturday.
According to the report in Haaretz, Netanyahu will announce that he will not seek a fourth term as prime minister, but a seven-year term ?as president. For Bibi to become president and Sara the presidents wife, they have to keep Peres in the Presidents Residence for two more years. That will require an amendment to the Basic Law on the President of the State.
In a meeting with Likud Ministers, Sunday morning, Netanyahu announced that he has no desire to succeed Shimon Peres as President of Israel, According to Amit Segal, Channel 2.
