FDNY And NYRRT Remind New Yorkers: Change Your Clock, Change Your Smoke Alarm Battery


nyrrt.jpgThe New York City Fire Department in conjunction with New York Rescue Response Team will be hosting a fire safety event in Borough Park at 49th Street and 13th Ave. Wednesday March 5th 12 to 2 pm. to encourage New Yorkers to change the batteries in their smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors when they change their clocks this Sunday for Daylight Saving Time.

FREE 9 volt batteries will be distributed!

As part of the annual “Change Your Clocks, Change Your Batteries” campaign, the FDNY Fire Safety Education Unit will be distributing 50,000 9-volt batteries and fire safety materials at more than 25 locations this week. The citywide campaign is aimed at promoting fire safety awareness and reminding New Yorkers about the importance of having a working smoke alarm in their home. The batteries were donated by the FDNY Foundation, the Department’s non-profit arm which supports equipment, training and education initiatives.
