More Information on the Assassination of Mughniyeh

According to a report released by the al-Akbar newspaper, new details are available surrounding the February 12, 2010 assassination of Hizbullah Deputy Commander Imad Mughniyeh. The report points a finger of blame as Israel’s Mossad, which is not a “chiddush”. It adds the arch terrorist was leaving a meeting with senior officials in Damascus. It appears his 2006 Mitsubishi SUV was filled with explosives that were detonated by agents in the area, using a nearby construction site for cover, permitting them to continue surveillance on his vehicle.

The team involved did not include Syrian nationals, and operatives were working for six weeks to complete the mission. There were some snags, including their getaway vehicle, which was abandoned after the explosion.
