Watch: Knesset Speaker Bursts Into Tears As Recites Kaddish In German Parliament

Knesset Speaker Mickey Levy delivered a historic speech (in Hebrew) at the German Parliament in Berlin on Thursday to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day at the first ceremony to include a senior Israeli official.

In a voice choked with tears, Levy announced that he will recite Kaddish l’zeicher the six million kedoshim from a siddur borrowed from Yad Vashem that a Jewish boy used at his Bar Mitzvah in October 1938, shortly before Kristallnacht the next month changed the reality for Jews throughout Europe

He then emotionally recited the Kaddish and broke down after completing it.

Levy thanked Bundestag President Bärbel Bas for inviting him to the event, “to mark the most terrible events in human history.”

“Particularly here, in the German Parliament, one can grasp the power of human beings to take advantage of democracy for its own destruction,” he said. “This is the place where humanity stretched the boundaries of evil, where the loss of values turned the framework of democracy into racist and discriminatory tyranny.”

Levy thanked former Chancellor Angela Merkel for her determined efforts to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive and strengthen Israel-Germany ties and told Chancellor Olaf Scholz that he has full trust that he will do the same.

  1. Although I was raised with the belief (opinion) that these people are Tinokos Sh’nishbu, I think it is cowardice of an Israeli politician not to don a Yarlmuka for a Kaddish for the Kedoshim. Handed the Nazis a small victory.
    Is he a leftist?

  2. Holy words of Kaddish without a head covering what a disgrace!! sorry nothing but emotionless crocodile tears….. Every educated German knows that in the Jewish religion, prayers is only recited whilst the head is covered. What a terrible public display of chilul Hashem.

  3. In the Zionist faith, they take Jewish rituals and things, and strip them of their Judaic content, and turn them into Zionist idolatrous crude imitations of, liHavdil, the Jewish original.

Same thing here. He didn’t recite what we call Kaddish. He recited a Zionist idolatrous blasphemy which happened to somewhat resemble, liHavdil, our Kaddish.

  4. Every secular Israeli knows to don a head covering when saying something spiritual like Kadish. Even non Jewish people when in the presence of a shul or the kosel put on a yarmulke. Its mind boggling why this fellow chose not to.

  5. Very, very moving!
It’s so especially sad that he broke his teeth at the beginning as though he had never before heard or said it! So additionally sad that he didn’t don a Kippur nor make a bracha on the sip of water! So sad!

  6. Does he know what the words mean? Does he get the irony?
He can cry as hard as he wants, won’t help him in hell.
    Disgusting.

  7. Of course, if he gets himself a tinok shenishba pass it should be pretty chilled. I wish him luck with that. Hope the application process works out easily.

  8. That the Holocaust is used as the narrative and justification to the world for the creation of the zionist state is a disgrace to the Kedoishim.

An ideology that does not have the confidence and belief to proclaim that Erets Yisroel was given to our forefathers, but rather uses guilt, will eventually wear thin.
