The IDF carried out multiple targeted eliminations in Iran over Shabbos, including Saeed Izadi, the commander of the Palestine Brigade in the Quds Force, who was instrumental in funding and training Hamas to carry out the October 7 massacre.
The IDF spokesperson stated, “Saeed Izadi, a founder of the Iranian regime’s plan to destroy Israel, was eliminated in a precise IDF strike in the area of Qom.”
“Izadi was also the commander of the Palestine Corps of the Quds Force, a key coordinator between the Iranian regime and Hamas, and one of the main orchestrators of the October 7 massacre. He was responsible for military coordination between the senior commanders of the IRGC and the Iranian regime with key figures in Hamas.”
“As part of his role, Izadi was responsible for increasing the financial funding from Iran to Hamas for terrorist activities against Israel. During the war, he was also responsible for directing Hamas forces operating from Lebanon. Since then, he has been committed to rebuilding Hamas’ military wing and ensuring that Hamas remains the controlling authority in Gaza.”
The IDF later published documents revealing Izadi’s strong ties with Hamas’ military wing, including correspondence between Izadi and Mohmad Sinwar discussing the planned transfer of $21 million of weapons to Hamas.
The IDF Air Force also eliminated Behnam Shahriyari, the commander of Unit 190 in the Quds Force, which is responsible for smuggling weapons, equipment, and funding to terrorist groups across the Middle East.
The IDF spokesperson stated: “Shahriyari was responsible for all weapons transfers from the Iranian regime to its proxies across the Middle East in order to directly advance the Iranian regime’s plan to destroy Israel.”
“Shahriyari also commanded the transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars annually to various terrorist organizations. Furthermore, he led the extensive effort to finance and arm these terrorist organizations—an effort that has resulted in the deaths and injuries of many Israeli civilians and soldiers.”
“He was eliminated more than 1,000 km from Israel while traveling in western Iran. His elimination represents a severe blow to the ability of the terrorist organizations surrounding Israel to regroup and strengthen after being heavily damaged by the IDF during the war.”
Hussein Khalil, the personal bodyguard of slain Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, was also eliminated in an IDF airstrike.
Khalil received specialized training with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards during the 1990s and later commanded Hezbollah operatives in Aleppo in collaboration with the Assad regime.
Another airstrike eliminated Seyed Asgar Hashmabitar, a top nuclear and missile scientist who was regarded as a key figure in Iran’s military nuclear program
A leading expert on pulse technologies, Hashmabitar authored a thesis on digital control for ballistic missiles in the 1990s.
Another nuclear scientist, Issar Tabatabai-Kamesheh, was also killed in a targeted airstrike.
In addition to the targeted eliminations, the IDF Air Force launched strikes on approximately 150 military sites across Iran, deploying around 50 fighter jets. Two major bombing raids were carried out overnight in central Iran: the first, at midnight, hit about 25 locations, with 130 munitions dropped; the second, carried out in the morning and afternoon, struck another 20 sites, including radar systems, naval bases, and command centers in the Ahvaz area, with around 50 munitions used.
Alongside the aerial attacks, the IDF’s UAVs targeted and destroyed numerous missile launchers. The IDF said some of these launchers were found abandoned on the side of the road after the Iranian soldiers transporting them fled the scene.
