Tragedy struck Flatbush on Monday night when a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Avenue I and East 5th Street. The victim, identified as 70-year-old R’ Dov Broyde z”l, was walking home from Maariv when the accident occurred — just a block away from his residence.
Emergency responders from Boro Park Hatzolah quickly arrived at the scene and began life-saving measures. R’ Berel was transported in serious condition to Maimonides Medical Center, but despite all efforts, he was tragically niftar a short time later.
The exact circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by the NYPD.
R’ Berel Broyde was known in his kehilla as a sincere and devoted Yid, deeply committed to Torah and avodas hashem. His sudden petirah has left his family, friends, and neighbors devastated.
Chesed Shel Emes and Misaskim are currently at the scene of the tragedy to ensure kavod hameis.
The levaya will be held today, Tuesday, at 3:30 PM at Beth David Cemetery, located at 300 Elmont Road, Elmont, NY 11003.

This is NOT the Beryl Brody who is a Rebbe in the Mir Yeshiva.
Please update the article to prevent further mixup.

he was a rebbe in the Mir I believe
This Yid was Reb Dov Broyde z”l, son of Alter Mirrer R. Yudel Broyde z”l (see https://darkwing.uoregon.edu/~rkimble/Mirweb/BroydeMemories.html), of the Mirrer minyan and Cong. Bnei Yehudah of Boro Park. Even when Reb Dov moved away after his marriage, for many years he would return to daven and attend a shiur in B.P. in the early mornings, traveling by bicycle (he would open the Shul during a certain period). He worked for NCYI for a time when they were in NY. He would daven for the amud often years ago, leading the services in a proper, old-fashioned way (not in the rushed manner unfortunately seen in some places at times). An image of old-fashioned, steadfastness to faith and tradition.
shiva info, anyone?
