Iranian-backed foreign militias from Iraq and Afghanistan have reportedly been deployed at checkpoints and night patrols across Tehran and other Iranian cities as the regime braces for possible unrest following the war, according to a report in The Telegraph.
• Members of the pro-Iran Iraqi militia Al-Hashd al-Shaabi were seen at checkpoints and helping enforce hijab laws, while residents described armed men who did not speak Persian and communicated through broken Arabic and hand gestures.
• Residents also reported seeing members of the Iranian-backed Afghan Fatemiyoun Division, with locals saying the foreign fighters appeared far more aggressive than Iran’s usual Basij forces.
• The move reportedly reflects growing fears inside the regime over potential protests fueled by economic damage, public anger, and concerns that the government is losing control internally.
