President Trump announced the nomination of Jay Clayton, the current U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and former SEC Chairman, to serve as the next Director of National Intelligence.

•⁠ ⁠Clayton previously served as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission and also led the law firm Sullivan & Cromwell.

•⁠ ⁠Trump praised Clayton as one of the most respected figures in the legal community and urged the Senate to confirm him as soon as possible.
