Before his departure to the United States, HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch issued a special letter to tens of thousands of avreichim in kollelim throughout Eretz Yisrael: “This is how we will prevail over those who wage war against us!”

“It would be fitting that every avreich, from now until the conclusion of the Yamim Nora’im, should be careful to come to the beginning of seder already with a half-hour taanis dibbur. This is something very difficult, and precisely because it is difficult and entails mesirus nefesh, it will bring about a great kiddush Shem Shamayim…and we will be zocheh to siyata d’Shmaya merubah…”
