PM Netanyahu is holding an emergency meeting with Aryeh Deri and Moshe Gafni as the Chareidi parties threaten to bring down the government.
Deri and Gafni are demanding the immediate advancement of the Basic Law on Torah Study and legislation to halt the arrests of yeshiva bochurim. Netanyahu reportedly promised last week that both bills would pass during the current Knesset, but continued delays have heightened tensions.
If Netanyahu admits he can’t secure the necessary majority, the Chareidi parties are expected to push for the immediate dissolution of the Knesset, potentially triggering new elections.
