Brooklyn – Simcha Felder (D-Brooklyn) encourages low-income taxpayers to see if they are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit and free help preparing tax returns. 20 to 25 percent of eligible taxpayers fail to claim the credit that could put thousands of dollars in their pockets.
“If you earned the credit,” said Councilmember Felder, “make sure you get it.”
Felder said some individuals and families may qualify for the credit for the first time because of unemployment or other changes in their financial, marital or parental status during the past year.
Free help is available to determine eligibility and file to claim the credit at volunteer tax assistance sites or, for those who cannot visit a site during hours/days of operation, at a local IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center. Call 311 and ask for the locations of the free tax preparation sites in your neighborhood. Make sure to ask for a list of all of the documents you will need to bring. For more information go to the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs, www.nyc.gov/html/dca.

I don’t file taxes ever because they are confusing. Thanks Simcha Felder for looking after the chasidic community of Boro Park.
it looks like someone interviewed him so nu wheres the video?
Better if he would fight to get a little of that “stimulus” into yeshivas like the OU and Agudah are doing. I know he is not a federal official but at some point in time I see no point in local officials just making public announcements
Using tax preparation software, such as Turbotax, is the best way to avoid missing any appropriate credits or deductions.
