More on Police Raid of Bnos Yerushalayim – Keren Moshe

YWN-ISRAEL reported earlier that police and Internal Revenue Service officials raided the homes, on MOnday morning, of three individuals involved in an alleged fraud by which they funded a school by using fraudulent means.

According to various reports, the three took an existing non-profit organization’s name, in this case the Meah Shearim based Bnos Yerushalayim, and added the Keren Moshe to it and presented it as a new legitimate NGO. The Meah Shearim NGO operates in the community and being in line with that tzibur’s hashkafa, it does not seek any state assistance or funding. This was an ideal organization since it does not deal with any state agency so there was no fear of crossing wires in requests for funding or filing with various agencies.

Realizing this, the three allegedly added the second name and presented requests for state funding for a school including names and identification numbers of students who do not exist, extracting millions of NIS from state ministries and agencies.

The three arrested include the director of the non-profit, a 27-year-old Ramat Beit Shemesh resident along with his assistants, a 30-year-old Meah Shearim resident and 23-year-old Givat Ze’ev resident.

  1. Clever boys. Too bad they use it this way. Considering who is arresting them, it isn’t clear if they are really being arrested for a crime or just being taken on as consultants for the tax-man.
