aussieboy, exactly what sort of threat did Iraq or Saddam Hussein represent against the US before the war? How did the war in Iraq remove this threat?
While Saddam Hussein may have met with Osama bin Laden before the 9/11 attacks, they were in no way allies. Hussein was a secularist who greatly disliked the religious bin Laden. So far, no weapons of mass destruction have been found in Iraq. However, in the aftermath of the war, thousands of weapons have been looted. This has probably made the soldiers there somewhat less safe. And, as I’ve noted above, the absence of a military threat from Iraq (and knowing that the US military is already overextended) has allowed Iran to continue its nuclear program with little interference.
