BTW – if the stovetop’s pilot light goes out, that’s not a good situation. Unlike some pilots (such as a gas dryer, water heater, oven) there is no thermocouple or other safety device that cuts off the gas flow to this particular pilot (unless there have been safety modifications I’m not aware of).
