I would add that R’ Shimon Eider and yblc”t R’ Simcha Bunim Cohen are both talmidm of Reb Moshe who have written seforim on Hilchos Shabbos and YT and make no mention of this supposed heter. Also, Piskei Teshuvos and Nitei Gavriel are encyclopedic works and do not bring it.
