shula’s….five towns…the workers there are such NICE and WARM people. its always fresh and always delicious! i got sick of the rest of the places in the five towns. another place has doughy pizza which is not what pizza is. another one looked moldy every time we went in and another place had roaches crawling everywhere!

the old Netanya on Ave. J in Flatbush: the best tasting sauce (to me… not spicy), & nice ‘n cheesy. but now there’s new ownership & I have yet to find a pizza place that has the sauce just how I like it.

Amnon’s makes the best pizza in BP. The reason it is so good is because of the huge turnover, so its always fresh, and the boss’ watchful eye. Amnon was going to sell and retire, but hes still at it, amush! Nice guy!

“The old Netanya on Ave. J”

I agree; and if the new owners would have kept the Netanya recipe, they’d still be in business.

The old Netanya was the best. I remember when I was in yeshiva we went there on Fridays to get their special – 2 slices, fries, and a soda for $3.25. And don’t forget the plate of pickle chips they’d throw in!

Go happiest and erm_saywhat! hurray for the lower east side. i was born there and grew up there! i now live elsewhere but the LES will always be a part of who i am.

anyway – there’s a pizza place in teaneck nj (at least i think it’s still there). It’s called Pizza Crave. YUMMMMM! not only the best pizza, but all their food is great. the place is nice and clean. every time we took a trip to ny – we made sure to stop at pizza crave (we have friends in teaneck – that’s how we found out about the place). We haven’t been back to ny in a while. I miss it.

I have lots of relatives on the Lower East Side and agree that Shalom Chai has the best pizza I’ve ever tasted. We go there every time we visit my aunt and uncle.

apushatayid: I once had that when I was younger! We had a pie delivered, and there was a roach in it. My brother called them up and told them. They said they’d send over another pie ASAP. My brother said, “Why, so we can get another roach?”

On a side note, if you see a roach was baked into a pizza, I wonder if the oven needs to be kashered?

feif- what kashered when you have a fly fall into a pot of soup that pot needs to be kashered??!!?? and if it falls into a cup of hot tea the cup has to be kashered???

One things is for-sure: the letter-gradings show a lot. Now when stores don’t have good grades I don’t eat there with my friends or family…People really don’t know what filth they’re eating.

On another note, pizza time rocks!

Golden Mom: oh yes, the grades DO mean a lot. Maybe you haven’t been around New York/Brooklyn to see them! Many stores did get B’s or C’s(gasp!)And I could predict most of the grades..u could tell how dirty a store is.

Where is this store (entrance)? I’ve been by the ESB many, many times and I’ve never seen it. All I know about is the pizza shop across the street on 33rd closer to 6th Ave.

It is closest to the entrance on 33rd. When you go in, make a left and there it is! (It recently turned kosher, so you may not have noticed it before.)
