we put the blood of the Pesach on our doors.

the Mechilta brings that the Destroyer generally does not distinguish when he is given permission to destroy.

the same Mechilta brings the Navi Yeshayah that we were told to go into our deepest chambers in the house, and to lock our doors.

the destroyer entered the homes of the Mitzrim but not the Jews. clearly he was told to distinguish and to Pass Over the Jews.

    1. the destroyer needed the siman of the blood to know in which homes were the Jews?

2.staying indoors protected us. the destroyer couldnt get inside?

    3. the destroyer was prevented from entering by locks?

none of these things were to thwart the destroyer abilities. im sure the mitzrim had doors and locks as well. so what was their purpose? and why did we have to stay inside? for whatever reason we were spared, the destroyer could not have spared us as well outside? he is a Moloch!

these things, the blood of the mitzrim avodah zorah brazenly displayed on our doorposts, the locking our doors and staying inside eating and singing while the mitzrim were undergoing their last plague, these were all demonstrations of our willingness and desire to separate from the umis ha olam. in this merit that we separated ourselves as a Nation apart, as Hashem was going to create us the next day, was the merit in which we were passed over.

Yasher koach, Mod 80. What was the difficulty in separating ourselves from Mitzriyim by the time 10th maka came?

not sure what you are asking. the culture and ways of the goyim in the countries in which we are exiled always has seemed alluring to us.

as Sdom was being completely destroyed, total annihalation, worse than mitzrayim, still, Lots wife looked back to Sdom with a certain longing. for this she didnt merit to live.

    Sorry for being unclear.

What’s the greatness of the Jews’ demonstrating their desire to separate from Mitzriyim at the time of Mitzriyim’s punishment?

Their desire to remain separate was shown before makos, so what is the significance of these acts during the last maka?

Also, unlike Jews in Mitzrayim, Lot’s wife wasn’t persecuted in Sdom; her memories of Sdom were more pleasant than Jews’ memories of Mitzrayim.

the significance is to teach you and me that THIS is the reason the destroyer passes over the Jewish people in every generation.

[not that there are no tragedies, lo aleynu, but that the Jewish people will never be destroyed, as are the nations among which we have lived.]
