July 22, 2011 6:48 pm at 6:48 pm #794103AEDforLeibyParticipantFor those who haven’t seen this yet, please understand that this small campaign (see link at end of this post) began BEFORE the official Leiby Kletzky Memorial Fund began. A friend of mine began it because he felt he wanted to do something positive in reaction to the tragedy and in memory of Leiby, a”h. And so he set out on a personal initiative to raise money to donate an AED (automated external defibrillator) to Hatzoloh of Flatbush. The AED will be iy”H placed in a shul or school that is in need of this equipment; the equipment has the ability to help save lives, a befitting dedication in memory of Leiby, a”h.
People are saying Achdus was the best thing that came from the tragedy. I have posted this here to help my friend with his “personal” campaign and any further help from others would be appreciated. The campaign is more than halfway to the goal. Thank you and tizku l’mitzvos.
July 22, 2011 7:54 pm at 7:54 pm #794104minyan galMemberI must tell you that my shul just got an AED and B’H’ it will never be used. I had asking for at least 2 years why they didn’t have one and the answers that I was given had never made sense to me (I was an RN). I have never attended a Shabbat service or a function at the shul where there wasn’t at least one doctor there. Granted, at the daily minyan there isn’t always one present but many of the staff members are certified in CPR and, now in the use of the AED. These machines definitely can save lives. I hope that you reach your goal quickly – it would be wonderful to have it in place somewhere before the Yomtovim.
