I spoke to the principal of Keser Chaya last week and asked what the difference between them and Binas is. She says they both have reports, tests, etc, but Keser Chaya is for girls with 85-95 averages in Chumasha and Navi, and Binas is for 90 and up. Sounds like both have lots of Hashkafa and are warm with great staff. I know Keser Chaya has a tutoring option. Don’t know about Binas yet.

Whoops, don’t know how to edit that, but I meant Chumash and Navi.

what about a girl who has very very close to a 90 average in a school which having an above 90 average means a not normal amount of work (and is known for it so it’s not just my humble opinion)???

I’m sure you’ll do fine, ultimateskier. The boundaries aren’t that clear, and everyone has their own individual factors that make them different from the next person, GPA notwithstanding.

    🙂

    And I sympathize- I go to a remarkably similar-sounding school…

I went to a Meisels seminary. Although the one I went to, Seminar, wasn’t academic at all, the girls there were amazing and I really felt that the year was worth it even though I didn’t learn much. If I had a choice, I would choose to go to Binas or Keser Chaya because the academic standards are much higher than Seminar, but the “type” of girls it attracts is the same as Seminar-frum, adorable, chilled type. Kinda out of towny, i think. The only thing I regret about my seminary year was that I didn’t learn anything in class. (I’m still happy I went because the girls were so amazing, and all of them truly inspired me.)I only averaged 80s (and got lots of 65s and 70s!)in Chumash and Navi in my high school, and Seminar was still pretty easy. I was scared of applying to anything harder because of my high school grades, but I regret it as I was super bored in Seminary classes. What I’m basically saying is to challenge yourself! The girls, I feel, are more or less the same type. The schools differ in academics, and if you’re the type that will get bored in easier classes, I suggest you go to a harder sem 🙂
