Ok, so maybe I have a really slow and outdated computer, but could YWN please cut down on the moving and blinking ads? I mean it slows my system down so much and its gonna set off seizures one day. Does anyone else have a problem with this?

in you or in your computer?
I get that on my notebook, I press the stop loading button as soon as the text is done and it helps.

January 1, 2012 6:23 pm at 6:23 pm #840525ED IT ORParticipantjust turn off images completely for this site?
January 1, 2012 6:25 pm at 6:25 pm #840526soliekMemberlol youre asking yeshivaworld, a free site supported by its ads and its ads alone, to remove its ads? lolololol if you dont like them use adblock
January 1, 2012 6:52 pm at 6:52 pm #840527Ctrl Alt DelParticipantI am not asking them to remove the ads, just maybe slow the blink rate. It probably uses sooo much memory to run this page. Sometimes I open a few articles in other tabs and it uses up so much RAM that my computer slows to a crawl. Do the ads have to move so much? Couldn’t we just get static ads?
January 1, 2012 6:56 pm at 6:56 pm #840528OneOfManyParticipantThey probably won’t/can’t change the ads. Just use Adblock Plus.
January 1, 2012 9:16 pm at 9:16 pm #840529squeakParticipantOr use Flashblock. That just blocks the “moving” ads from starting up.
January 1, 2012 10:05 pm at 10:05 pm #840530I can only tryMemberThe ads on this site are very CPU-intensive.
When you open or refresh a page you can see the CPU usage go way up in the task manager, then after a minute or so it goes back down.
This isn’t the only site that has this issue.
For whatever reason, some of the “blinking” ads are flash-based, some are .jpeg and some are .gif; they all seem to be demanding CPU-wise.
Turning off flash will help somewhat, but it will reduce the CPU usage by less than 50%
My old laptop gets quite hot and the cooling fan speeds up and becomes noisy if I open several YW pages at once.
A newer PC with more processing power will be far less likely to have this issue.
No, this is not a sponsorship offer ?
January 1, 2012 10:24 pm at 10:24 pm #840531soliekMemberlol i have two gaming rigs…i never run short on processing 😀
January 1, 2012 10:32 pm at 10:32 pm #840532OneOfManyParticipantBlocking flash would block all flash content (not only ads).
