    mepal, that’s the advice my mother always gave me before big tests (I didn’t take regents, but did take SATs etc). I also used to say tehillim & give tzedaka before a big test.

    Hatzlacha. Also remember that they have made it easier recently, and many times you will read a very longwinded problem of which 75% is totally irrelevant to the question that follows (red herring), and you only need one basic piece of info from the whole megillah and a drop of math to solve it. Don’t be intimidated.

    Aced it in the 90’s. Probably couldn’t today.

    notnorm, oh man… a whole year ago! aside from going to sleep early, and eating a good breakfast (supposedly natural sugar helps you concentrate) what helped me a lot is that there are a lot, I repeat, a LOT of answers buried on the reference table. If you get stuck start searching. HATZLACHA and of course report back to us here. 🙂

    Jothar, did you mean to give away your age with that comment? The NY Post answer key to the regents is well known when that happened!

    notnorm, last year was supposed to be a hard one, my guess is that you would get an easy one this year because I think they alternate.

    I only took the Math I regent and then went to NJ for school. The Math I regent was a joke compared to my finals…

    Your brother studied? that’s like one in a million. No. Don’t feel bad for him. He’s OVERdoing himself.

    #648036

    what happened with the post and the regents?

    someone once told me that every few years the answers were stolen and many times by yeshiva bochurim…

    dont take caffeine before you take a test cuz it will make you jittery and then crash when it wears off. thats at least what I was told when i took the SATs. never took regents but many people i know did.

    regents seem to be useless cuz you dont learn anything that isnt on the curriculum where if you were not from NY you learn much different stuff. ok, ok, you actually have to learn something. but anything that isnt tested isnt taught and you end up missing out on a lot. like the history one- you learn a lot about a few eras but miss everything in between (especially the stuff that the liberal minded education board doesnt want people to know…)

    AOB – You’re older than Jothar?? Oh my, I thought you were much younger 😉

    Wasn’t there a similar story with a Math regent in the 90’s, or is that just a product of a befuddled memory?

    Darling Husband of mine has been very busy recently tutoring for the regents (pro bono).

    Is there any way we can have a thread dedicated to different regents exams, letting students post questions and DH or others answering them, so he doesn’t have to answer the same questions to different students over and over again?

    #648049

    OH NO! you mean that the dihydrogen monoxide has reached that contamination stage? oh no!!!! you know that too much of it is toxic, its been found in vegetable farms, in most foods- yikes! 🙂

    I once created some Dihydrogen monoxide on an international flight by not closing the cap to the seltzer bottle tight enough.

    Luckily it was before 9-11-2001.

    ummmmm let me seee

    dihydorgen == 2 Hydrogen atoms

    monoxide == 1 Oxygen atom

    oooo oooo ooooo

    H2O!

    That’s water!

    Now do you understand my previous post?

    the chem regent is over, does the thread go bye bye?!?

    #648057

    mepal- at a ” be green/organic/recycle” event, someone went around asking people to sign a petition against a chemical that has been put into our food supply that can be toxic…. please sign the petition to take away <drumroll please> dihydrogen monoxide! people actually signed!!!

    No Jax, now we’re discussing our contaminated food!

    actually dihydrogen monoxide can be toxic, even fatal

    there have been cases of fatal hyponatremia from ingestion of very large quantities of dihydrogen monoxide over a short period of time.

    #648060

    feivel, that was the point! 😉

    this person getting others to sign a petition was reporting the truth, it was just in how you phrase it all. toxicity, farmers use it constantly, in most processed foods ect.

    another thing about dihydrogen monoxide

    if it is not properly treated before ingestion, it can contain numerous infectious agents.
