My earlier thread was not to question why topics are closed, it was to question human nature why we are drawn to any thread that says closed. Why are WE immediately curious to why a topic is closed. Yes WE don’t see all the posts the moderators delete or do not let go through. But what makes US need to look at those threads? Why not just skip over them?

And why did I come look at this when I thought it was closed?

you said it: human nature. if someone says “don’t look now!”, we automatically look.

and yes, if I see a topic here closed.. I go look to see if I can figure out why.

Because threads that can be posted to will pop up again on the first page. Closed threads will soon fall off the first page, never to be seen again — and I know that if I won’t remember to look at it later, so if I’m going to see it, it had better be now.

I don’t know why the first was closed, but it was cute to see

    [closed] closed topic.

    I think its important to

    1) leave the closed topic on the board (as opposed to taking them down altogether)

    2) delete the posts that were out of line

3)have us read the closed ones, so we see what brought them down.

Even with the deletions, you can often see where it was headed, and why the topic got shut. Last week, there was a thread about nail polish, and I kept out of it, becuase a month ago there was another nail polish thread where i did post (funny stuff IMHO, but the mods were not in a laughing mood :/ )

So hopefully, other people saw how my posts were out of bounds and did not make the same mistakes as I did.

Nothing wrong with learning from other peoples mistakes.

Same reason why people rubberneck an accident scene.

Does anyone know what happened to the siyum hashas shadchan thread? It was gone when I woke up this morning. Threads aren’t usually closed for stupidity or valueless content and even nastiness rarely earns a complete deletion. I am partly just curious what could have happened to be so bothersome to someone, and I am also hoping I wasn’t responsible. (I know Getzel was annoyed but I still haven’t figured out what about)

Syag, for some reason some threads just disappear! For example, the “Blanket or Sheet?” thread: http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/blanket-or-sheet

I didn’t see anything wrong with it, but it’s GONE!!
