I just realized that someone gave me a subtitle, “k’shmo kain hu”. I don’t think that is accurate. I am barely a shtutz meshugener, let alone a veltz meshugener.

    #1108686

    That’s been there for years.

    #1108688

DY – I’m not so observant. Does the fact a lie is old mean it is not a lie?

    #1108689

I put it there. Who cares if it’s not true, as long as it sells papers.

    #1108690

YW Mod – does it sell papers?

    #1108691

    That would be classified information.

    #1108692

    But it is funny.

    #1108693

I’m not so observant. Does the fact a lie is old mean it is not a lie?

No, but perhaps it was true then. The world has gotten much crazier in the last couple of years, you know.

Actually, I think DY is lying to get you to submit… It’s fairly recent IIRC. In any case even without your subtitle the Mods were agreeing to it by allowing your username in the first place.

In life there’s a klal that many people go by: I may criticize/belittle myself, but if someone else dare say the same the about me I get offended. However, the Chofetz Chaim teaches otherwise – no loshon hora against oneself. Bottom line you have yourself to blame for your lofty subtitle.

    #1108696

You’re just upset that I called you a chauvinist.

Lol DY. I actually googled it to see if it’s even possible for a female to be a chauvinist as I’ve never seen it used this way. Turns out you’re almost always right… But now I wonder why my joke about someone’s personality was recently “modded” and yours went through. I’m seriously considering becoming offended about that…

Truthfully though I really think his subtitle is fairly recent, so can we have a vote here as to how old Veltz’s current subtitle is? (Hopefully the Mods will bestow us with the correct answer down the road.)

    A) less than two weeks

    B) more than two weeks but less than two months

    C) more than 2 months but less than a year

    D) a year or more

    E) none of the above (have to put this is in for it to be a true multiple choice…)

    I vote A.

    #1108698

I don’t know what you wrote or meant, but I can assure you that I was kidding around, and I guess the mod(s) realized.

I can’t swear that it’s literally years, but it seems to me that his sub is at least quite a few months old.

Gemarah says (somewhere), a fault found in oneself should rather be iterated be that person, then by another. Something like ????? ???? ???? ??? ???? ????

You sure, 29? I checked his profile, and until today, the last time he posted was over two months ago…

Thanks 29 that was quick. I guess we were both wrong.

Don’t worry DY I knew you were kidding, and being chauvinistic I don’t get offended so easily…

And my joke that was modded referenced an actual psychological diagnosis which I used in jest, against someone ” not Yeshivish” in the CR. So although I thought it was innocuous at the time he might have gotten offended – so the mods erred on the side of caution. I was however caught off-guard and questioned my sensitivity to others when it happened.

Basically the question is, when is a joke not funny to the one it’s about?

    #1108704

Actually, according to his profile his last post was two months. checking the date, however, puts it at august second which was over two months. Not a couple weeks, but certainly not a year. So i guess you two can call it a draw.

    #1108705

    Thanks for looking that up.

    #1108706

The question wasn’t when he last posted, but when his subtitle was given.

I can’t be absolutely sure, but I think it’s been there for a very long time.

    #1108707

Right, but as we were saying it was changed when he last posted which was two – three months ago.

If your subtitle doesn’t offer new information but instead states that the name is true, and it isn’t true, the person who chose the name lied.

    #1108709

I don’t remember anyone saying that.

    #1108710

There’s a reason no one said that – it would’ve been incorrect.

I have some pages from the CR (mostly unread) saved on my computer.

After searching the folder for Veltz, I can now say with certainty

that while as late as 7/11/2013 (I have 10 pages saved from 2013,

all music-related), he did not have that subtitle, as early as

7/15/2014 (well over a year ago), he did.

(I can provide proof via e-mail, Mod-29, if you deem it necessary…)

    #1108711

I figured it must have been changed at least as far back as the last time he had posted, but my memory said it was a good deal longer then that.

Now you say well over a year ago, and you have proof? I would love to see that, so that we can finally resolve this ridiculously important issue. πŸ™‚

    I hereby request a trial by jury….

    #1108713

My testimony won’t be too useful. I said I remembered it was recently because I have a clear memory of writing those words and the process of choosing the correct spelling. I cannot, however, testify that it was specifically for Velt’s subtitle.

So I will swear under oath (well, not really) that I put that phrase somewhere in/on the CR two or so months ago, but it could have been for a different purpose.

    #1108714

Can I stay out on bond?

    #1108715

DaasYochid, you can’t see the proof unless it’s e-mailed

to you. It’s simply a page, saved on 7/15/2014, on which

the subtitle can be seen. It happens to be this thread:

    Lol…

I can’t believe the Mighty Mods can’t “audit” a thread or have transcripts of those vital subtitle changes.

According to the Wayback Machine, it was sometime between October 20, 2013 and April 5, 2014.

I’d post proof but am afraid it won’t get past 29.

    #1108719

Quick – I am on now. Post!

The second capture was on 4/5/2014 and it shows the current subtitle.

BTW, is there any way for a member to see when a post was made?

    #1108723

Not that I am aware of.

    #1108724

The first one showed his current subtitle as well….

    #1108725

    The first capture shows “member”.

So the correct answer, according to the Wayback Machine, is D).

More specifically, as of this writing, between ~19-26 months.

This time I see a three day old thread with member, last link you posted I saw his present one. And somehow when I copied and pasted the URL I got it as an 8 month old thread. (and thought it was current)

I’d like to publicly apologize and beg mechila from DY for accusing him of lying. Apparently I’m the one with the bad memory…

That being said I think Veltz M. should get a new subtitle, I mean screen name, as he obviously disagrees with both.

    Any suggestions?

I did a Google search for ‘site:theyeshivaworld.com -“Veltz Meshugener” “K’shmo kain hu”‘ (excluding the single quotes) and came up with no results so it doesn’t seem like anyone else has the same subtitle unless they only post on the same threads as Veltz Meshugener. Maybe you used a different spelling.

Maybe Dorf’s Meshugener? And as subtitle – Don’t mess with me!
