This will really upset the folks who insist on doing nothing but bashing Cuomo and De Blasio, but NY is now #17 out of 51 US States & DC in terms of vaccines administered per capita. In other words, 2/3 of states are doing worse. No US state with as large or larger a population, and only one country with as large or larger population — the United Kingdom — is doing better. The only other countries doing better are Israel, United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. Source: ourworldindata dot com.

Cuomo is an incompetent genocidal maniac. He’s singlehandedly responsible for the murder of tens of thousands of elderly New Yorkers in nursing homes during the beginning of the pandemic.

Charlie, you are right. Another observation – US and UK are ahead of EU due to earlier pre-payments. A couple of factories in Europe have production problems, while US & UK are working fine. EU is trying to force companies to send UK vaccines to EU. One of the explanations – earlier payments allowed more time to fix manufacturing problems.

We all ought to thank President Trump for laying the groundwork to getting the vaccine ready and available so amazingly quickly.
The way the media talks about Cuomo (and Cuomo talks about himself) you would think that NY would be in the top 5. All we hear about is how he was an amazing leader throughout the pandemic.
I am involved in administering vaccines at several NYC PODs. There is no excuse why so few have been vaccinated thus far. It’s impossible to get an appointment yet some sites are vaccinating 250 people on a “busy” day despite having the capacity to do many times that.
@CharlieHall “New York can be doing worse” isn’t exactly a shining endorsement of Cuomo. After botching the initial COVID-19 response causing nearly half the initial deaths in the US. Then encouraging vaccine distributors to throw out extra doses by threatening anyone who dared vaccinate someone who isn’t in the nebulous “Group 1A”. He will have to do a lot better than 33rd percentile before you will get people to stop bashing him.
CharlieHall, it’s all Democrat= good, Republican=Bad, with you all- all day-every day. Did you read about 9 of Cuomo’s top health officials leave amid COVID-19 vaccine rollout disagreements? You pick and choose the politicians you choose to like or dislike.
Charliehall: Recommending a 12-step program to people who disagree with your controversial political opinions is deeply offensive to people struggling with addiction. And praising Killer Cuomo is deeply hurtful to the loved ones of those elder-care home residents that were murdered to as the result of his incompetence.
I see the Cuomo bashers can’t resist. I wonder whether there is a 12 step recovery program for that addiction.

BTW, as of today I saw New York ranked 25.
also, I’d like to point out that Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Castro, Lee, and Ghadafi were all worse than Cuomo, so quit the bashing, would ya?
Charlie: I believe that since 40% of New Yorkers are concentrated (in close proximity) in NYC, and a nice chunk in New York’s suburban areas that are pretty dense population-wise — which means easy access to medical centers and hospitals for most in the state — being
25th or so when it comes to vaccinating its population is really pretty dismal.First of all coming in seventeenth place is nothing to boast about. Particularly when you a bloated system as bad as New York. Let them at least do something.
Second and more importantly the anti-Semitism, bigotries and racism which is being used to distribute these vaccines should make even the biggest Cuomo supporter have pause.

They did such a great job that NYS will lose 2 congressional seat due to population loss, anyone who can leave is doing so

Obviously, reading comprehension is not one of your strong points. The New York AG report indicated that depending on the reporting threshold and definition of Covid-related death, it was possible that an additional 4300 to 7000 deaths occurred at nursing homes, above the 8505 figure used by Health Commissioner’s Zucker’s methodology. The AG’s report was based on extrapolation of results from 10 percent of the state’s nursing homes and assisted-living facilities. The policy was obviously a tragic disaster and the reporting was equally suspect but do you believe your Trumpian hypermobile and exaggeration really helps your credibility??
Charlie, New York City itself (not just the other parts of the State) will be losing Congressional representation after the current census reappointment due to the fact that not only did NYC lose population in 2020 but the city has failed to proportionally keep up with the average national population growth.

A couple of points:
1. Charlie, where does that number come from? I’ve not seen any published ranking such as that which you cite, but from my personal observation and experience, Florida seemed significantly better organized than New York. In late December and early January, when folks in Monsey had no idea where to go, who to call or what to do to get vaccinated, back in Boca, People were notified by phone, appointments were made and vaccinations were being administered. My entire condo complex had received their first dose before anyone in Monsey was even able to get an appointment.
2. During the onset of the current pandemic, many mistakes and errors in judgment, both at the federal and state level, were made that are much easier to see today in hindsight that were apparent at the time. In February and March, the federal and state governments were in full panic mode. Remember the demand for 30,000 respirators, turning Javits Center in to a hospital, sending a hospital ship to NY? At the time, sending recovering Covid patients to nursing homes seemed a good idea to free up ICUs that were expected to be swamped. In likewise manner, federal actions (or inactions) taken to avoid isolating the nation and crashing the economy also seemed warranted. It is hypocritical to trash the Trump administration for its mistakes made in good faith, while giving Cuomo a pass for his, made in equally good faith.👍🏻

Biden called it ‘short-sighted and frivolous’, because apparently Israel can’t choose it’s own capital without meeting ‘conditions’.

Fantastic job. Can you tell me which page in his book about how to respond to the pandemic that is written on. Perhaps it is an entire chapter.
