This will really upset the folks who insist on doing nothing but bashing Cuomo and De Blasio, but NY is now #17 out of 51 US States & DC in terms of vaccines administered per capita. In other words, 2/3 of states are doing worse. No US state with as large or larger a population, and only one country with as large or larger population — the United Kingdom — is doing better. The only other countries doing better are Israel, United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain. Source: ourworldindata dot com.
We can do better but most places are doing much worse.
January 31, 2021 7:29 pm at 7:29 pm #1944092ujmParticipantCuomo is an incompetent genocidal maniac. He’s singlehandedly responsible for the murder of tens of thousands of elderly New Yorkers in nursing homes during the beginning of the pandemic.
January 31, 2021 8:14 pm at 8:14 pm #1944099lakewhutParticipantCharlie Hall that’s why people are leaving NY in droves, because they are doing such a good job.
January 31, 2021 8:20 pm at 8:20 pm #1944104charliehallParticipantI see the Cuomo bashers can’t resist. I wonder whether there is a 12 step recovery program for that addiction.
January 31, 2021 8:25 pm at 8:25 pm #1944108🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantAfter the last few months you spent spewing anti trump propaganda verbatim even when you were 100% telling lies and made up facts you hardly have a right to make such a comment. Why not work on rebuilding your reputation as an coherent professional.
January 31, 2021 8:46 pm at 8:46 pm #1944110lakewhutParticipantCharlie Hall when did you become a communist?
January 31, 2021 9:21 pm at 9:21 pm #1944112Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipantCharlie, you are right. Another observation – US and UK are ahead of EU due to earlier pre-payments. A couple of factories in Europe have production problems, while US & UK are working fine. EU is trying to force companies to send UK vaccines to EU. One of the explanations – earlier payments allowed more time to fix manufacturing problems.
January 31, 2021 9:22 pm at 9:22 pm #1944113ujmParticipantCharlie, have you referred Letitia James yet to this 12 step program you refer to?
January 31, 2021 10:33 pm at 10:33 pm #1944125ujmParticipantWe all ought to thank President Trump for laying the groundwork to getting the vaccine ready and available so amazingly quickly.
February 1, 2021 11:05 am at 11:05 am #1944259bk613ParticipantThe way the media talks about Cuomo (and Cuomo talks about himself) you would think that NY would be in the top 5. All we hear about is how he was an amazing leader throughout the pandemic.
I am involved in administering vaccines at several NYC PODs. There is no excuse why so few have been vaccinated thus far. It’s impossible to get an appointment yet some sites are vaccinating 250 people on a “busy” day despite having the capacity to do many times that.
February 1, 2021 11:08 am at 11:08 am #1944270Yserbius123Participant@CharlieHall “New York can be doing worse” isn’t exactly a shining endorsement of Cuomo. After botching the initial COVID-19 response causing nearly half the initial deaths in the US. Then encouraging vaccine distributors to throw out extra doses by threatening anyone who dared vaccinate someone who isn’t in the nebulous “Group 1A”. He will have to do a lot better than 33rd percentile before you will get people to stop bashing him.
February 1, 2021 2:46 pm at 2:46 pm #1944339TGIShabbosParticipantCharlieHall, it’s all Democrat= good, Republican=Bad, with you all- all day-every day. Did you read about 9 of Cuomo’s top health officials leave amid COVID-19 vaccine rollout disagreements? You pick and choose the politicians you choose to like or dislike.
February 1, 2021 2:52 pm at 2:52 pm #1944341dbrimParticipantCharliehall: Recommending a 12-step program to people who disagree with your controversial political opinions is deeply offensive to people struggling with addiction. And praising Killer Cuomo is deeply hurtful to the loved ones of those elder-care home residents that were murdered to as the result of his incompetence.
February 1, 2021 3:44 pm at 3:44 pm #1944393☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI see the Cuomo bashers can’t resist. I wonder whether there is a 12 step recovery program for that addiction.
As Syag said, there’s a supreme irony in someone who can’t see a single thing good about Trump making that comment.
BTW, as of today I saw New York ranked 25.
February 1, 2021 5:21 pm at 5:21 pm #1944414ParticipantParticipantalso, I’d like to point out that Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Castro, Lee, and Ghadafi were all worse than Cuomo, so quit the bashing, would ya?
February 1, 2021 8:23 pm at 8:23 pm #1944488MammeleParticipantCharlie: I believe that since 40% of New Yorkers are concentrated (in close proximity) in NYC, and a nice chunk in New York’s suburban areas that are pretty dense population-wise — which means easy access to medical centers and hospitals for most in the state — being
25th or so when it comes to vaccinating its population is really pretty dismal.February 2, 2021 9:45 am at 9:45 am #1944623smerelParticipantFirst of all coming in seventeenth place is nothing to boast about. Particularly when you a bloated system as bad as New York. Let them at least do something.
Second and more importantly the anti-Semitism, bigotries and racism which is being used to distribute these vaccines should make even the biggest Cuomo supporter have pause.

February 2, 2021 12:59 pm at 12:59 pm #1944664commonsaychelParticipantThey did such a great job that NYS will lose 2 congressional seat due to population loss, anyone who can leave is doing so
February 2, 2021 2:17 pm at 2:17 pm #1944705charliehallParticipantThe population losses are all upstate in Republican areas.
February 2, 2021 2:18 pm at 2:18 pm #1944706charliehallParticipant“praising Killer Cuomo is deeply hurtful to the loved ones of those elder-care home residents that were murdered”
So I actually looked at the data for fraction of nursing home residents who died from COVID. New York is #18. Massachusetts is #1 and nobody is calling Charlie Baker a murderer. This is all partisan hackery. This isn’t a perfect as reporting rates vary but it shows that Cuomo does not deserve the abuse.

Obviously, reading comprehension is not one of your strong points. The New York AG report indicated that depending on the reporting threshold and definition of Covid-related death, it was possible that an additional 4300 to 7000 deaths occurred at nursing homes, above the 8505 figure used by Health Commissioner’s Zucker’s methodology. The AG’s report was based on extrapolation of results from 10 percent of the state’s nursing homes and assisted-living facilities. The policy was obviously a tragic disaster and the reporting was equally suspect but do you believe your Trumpian hypermobile and exaggeration really helps your credibility??

I publicly disagreed with Biden on the cancellation of the Keystone XL Pipeline and on the Buy America nonsense. Unlike all the Trumpies here I am not a Cult member.
The only significant longlasting good that Trump did that was really and truly his thing was the First Steps Act. And he got it past Republicans in Congress who were absolutely uninterested. Trump deserves credit for that. I praised Trump for that. I also praised him for allowing the Keystone XL Pipeline to continue, but Biden killed it. And that Pipeline was neither the huge boon that its proponents claimed nor the horrible catastrophe that its opponents claimed. Trump also had the US Embassy to Israel be in Jerusalem, but Biden would have done that too. (Biden had been trying for 35 years.)
And I am in touch with reality. Biden won the election and it wasn’t close. Many Trumpies here continue to refuse to accept that and the majority of Republicans in the House of Representatives refused as well. Even as a violent mob was storming the Capitol to overturn the election, most House Republicans voted to do the mob’s agenda. So yes, for the most part, Democrat=good and Republican=bad.
February 2, 2021 4:44 pm at 4:44 pm #1944750ujmParticipantCharlie, New York City itself (not just the other parts of the State) will be losing Congressional representation after the current census reappointment due to the fact that not only did NYC lose population in 2020 but the city has failed to proportionally keep up with the average national population growth.

Didn’t Cuomo order China Virus infected patients back into nursing homes? Doesn’t that make him directly responsible?
2. Do those numbers include the ‘4300 to 7000’ not counted?
3. Why are you defending this man?
February 2, 2021 7:29 pm at 7:29 pm #1944778RedlegParticipantA couple of points:
1. Charlie, where does that number come from? I’ve not seen any published ranking such as that which you cite, but from my personal observation and experience, Florida seemed significantly better organized than New York. In late December and early January, when folks in Monsey had no idea where to go, who to call or what to do to get vaccinated, back in Boca, People were notified by phone, appointments were made and vaccinations were being administered. My entire condo complex had received their first dose before anyone in Monsey was even able to get an appointment.
2. During the onset of the current pandemic, many mistakes and errors in judgment, both at the federal and state level, were made that are much easier to see today in hindsight that were apparent at the time. In February and March, the federal and state governments were in full panic mode. Remember the demand for 30,000 respirators, turning Javits Center in to a hospital, sending a hospital ship to NY? At the time, sending recovering Covid patients to nursing homes seemed a good idea to free up ICUs that were expected to be swamped. In likewise manner, federal actions (or inactions) taken to avoid isolating the nation and crashing the economy also seemed warranted. It is hypocritical to trash the Trump administration for its mistakes made in good faith, while giving Cuomo a pass for his, made in equally good faith.February 2, 2021 7:31 pm at 7:31 pm #1944787🍫Syag LchochmaParticipant👍🏻

Biden called it ‘short-sighted and frivolous’, because apparently Israel can’t choose it’s own capital without meeting ‘conditions’.
By the way, wasn’t he VP like, four years ago? How hard was he trying to accomplish his 35 year old dream?February 3, 2021 8:55 am at 8:55 am #1944946MadeAliyahParticipant”And I am in touch with reality. So Republicans are mostly bad because of a mob that they – including Trump himself – condemned.
But Democrats are mostly good even though they justified ‘mostly peaceful’ mobs that killed people and caused billions of dollars in damage.

Charlie, it is ironic that you – “with evidence” – accuse others of coming up with unfounded theories, and immediately post seemingly deluded ideas (“without evidence”). If you reflect on that a little, maybe you’ll become more understanding of others who do the same.

That is your wonderful Democrat idol.
Fantastic job. Can you tell me which page in his book about how to respond to the pandemic that is written on. Perhaps it is an entire chapter.
