Dr. Zelenco has been advocating a mix of 3 medications to treat Covid & claims that this treatment is highly successful if given right at the onset of symptoms. The rest of the frum medical world has ignored his claims. Anecdotally, it seems that KJ has had very few deaths compared to other Frum areas. Is this true? Does Dr. Zelenko deserve the credit? & should other Frum Doctors bow their heads & concede that they mistakenly ignored his findings? (Please don’t quote studies of trials on people already hospitalized in serious condition, it’s too late by then)
April 30, 2020 2:33 pm at 2:33 pm #1855446JosephParticipantWhat percent of KJ residents are patients of Dr. Zelenko?
April 30, 2020 2:39 pm at 2:39 pm #1855432ubiquitinParticipantDr. who? this is amazing!
How isn’t this getting more press?
I can’t believe there aren’t any topics on this already
April 30, 2020 4:58 pm at 4:58 pm #1855495lowerourtuition11210ParticipantAfter hearing his latest video he tries to treat people at an earlier stage ten most other doctors. He said only two patient were niftar. i am not sure if he has a significant sample size.
April 30, 2020 4:58 pm at 4:58 pm #1855502n0mesorahParticipantDear Haimy,
There is something called a healing touch. Some doctors have a gift to deliver risky cures, with positive outcomes. Other doctors know they cannot replicate such successes, so they don’t attempt it. Doctor are not line online pundits, that attempt everything that comes across their radars.April 30, 2020 5:28 pm at 5:28 pm #1855539Old Crown HeightsParticipantUnless Dr. Zelenko is a fraud and insane (which is NOT the sense I get from listening to him and reading his letter) there is something very odd with the way his treatment is being ignored in the U.S (and the Jewish world). Even TYW didn’t publish his recent 5-page letter. I get that the doctor’s choice of yarmulke (taken at face value) indicates a massive blind spot. But he’s a real doctor and I don’t see evidence of anyone else replicating his protocol and disproving his findings. Dr. Z says he’s treated 1600 COVID patients and used the protocol on 450. Only one of the 450 died and that patient had preexisting leukemia. How about the other 1,200 that weren’t candidates from the three-drug cocktail. Why weren’t they candidates? He doesn’t say how many of those (if any) died. Are there no readers of TYW in K.J. who have first hand info on what’s really happening up there? Or can TYW interview Dr. Z directly?
April 30, 2020 6:05 pm at 6:05 pm #1855559HaimyParticipantI’m not coming with an agenda, I honestly would like to know if KJ had proportionally fewer deaths per the population & how widespread Dr. Zelenkow’s protocol was used. This is especially significant since social isolation seems to be observed to a lesser degree in the Satmar Kehillos than in other communities. As widely reported on YWN. Less social distancing & a lower death rate should be an indicator that his treatment is working if it’s being commonly used in KJ.
April 30, 2020 6:51 pm at 6:51 pm #1855566Old Crown HeightsParticipantI know if I feel myself getting covid symptoms, based on Dr. Z’s 5-page letter, and his videos, unless something clearly better comes out, I would be willing to try his protocol myself.
April 30, 2020 9:32 pm at 9:32 pm #1855587n0mesorahParticipantThere are many legends of nurses having major success fighting illnesses with chicken soup. Just because chicken soup cannot be medically studied, it does not mean that Doctors deny these legends. It for sure does not mean that chicken soup holds more promise than medications.
April 30, 2020 10:43 pm at 10:43 pm #1855653GadolhadorahParticipantn0meshorah: A 2:1 mix of chicken soup and Lysol or Bleach followed by 30 minutes in a tanning booth has also been shown to have very promising results.
Zelencko’s claims (along with those of several other practitioners with claims) have been widely reported in the media, including here on YWN, Fox News, OAN, etc.
Problem is that NONE of these claims has been backed by ANY verifiable data or even limited blind case profiles redacted for privacy. I’m sure that each of these individuals truly believes in the efficacy of their regimens. Problem is that we don’t prescribe medications of tens of thousand or even larger numbers of very sick individuals, many with underlying health issues, without some degree of verified data, however limited. If Zelenko or others have such data, then they should make it available. So far its just claims. Hopefully, he can find some way to share his case records with some independent experts for verification.
But don’t worry, the President announced today that HE PERSONALLY has taken charge of having a Corona Virus Vaccine available by the end of December.April 30, 2020 10:43 pm at 10:43 pm #1855656shtumpaParticipantMy Doctor stopped using the Zelenkow protocol after seeing poor results and two sudden deaths among young patients using plaquinal and Azithromycin. He suspected (but it hasn’t been proven) that the deaths may be due to unhealthy heart rhythms caused by the combination of these drugs. Many hospitals were throwing these drugs at everyone with suspected COVID out of desperation but stopped for the same reason (at least the two hospitals my relatives works at).
Dr Zelenkow is an elriche yid and should be blessed. I am far from convinced, however, that his treatment is to be recommended.
May 1, 2020 12:25 am at 12:25 am #1855682Doing my bestParticipantI believe Dr. Zelenko said last week that he has seen 1650 patients, and 405 of them fit into his at-risk criteria and were treated with his regimen. Of those 405 there 2 deaths plus about 6 hospitalizations.
May 1, 2020 12:26 am at 12:26 am #1855684JosephParticipantshtumpa: The treatment is still being administered in very many hospitals all over NY and the US.
May 1, 2020 1:18 am at 1:18 am #1855723JosephParticipantYesterday a major hospital in New York announced it is launching a clinical trial based on Dr. Vladimir Zelenko’s treatment. St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn is launching a study using Zelenko’s cocktail.
May 1, 2020 8:12 am at 8:12 am #1855742n0mesorahParticipantDear Old,
People who had a mild case of coronavirus are dead because they tried to take this concoction by themselves. One has to be monitored in a hospital setting.Dear Gadol,
The bleach is unnecessary. This chicken soup could be fatal with out it. And there is no medicinal benefit. There is data to back that up. Still, it is possible that the doctor has a healing touch with his stuff.Dear Haimy,
There are many other factors to consider. Wait ten years. if we still do not know, we can apply for a grant to commission a study.May 1, 2020 12:13 pm at 12:13 pm #1855885Reb EliezerParticipantMay 3, 2020 7:43 am at 7:43 am #1856167n0mesorahParticipantDear Reb Eliezer,
It looks like the journalist is getting a really good story. I wonder if he set the doctor up.May 3, 2020 6:28 pm at 6:28 pm #1856455charliehallParticipant“there is something very odd with the way his treatment is being ignored in the U.S”
Far from being ignored, it has been promoted like crazy even though there is no real evidence for it.
The truth is that we will never know because Dr. Zelenko did not follow a research protocol. He did not have a comparison group. He decided which patients to treat with what.
