July 10, 2009 1:48 pm at 1:48 pm #795059Mayan_DvashParticipantI talk from experience: The sales people at B & H will give you an honest opinion based on your needs. I got one type of camera for family uses, while my brother-in-law keeps buying from them the types of cameras that would not be good for me, but suits his needs perfectly. He is structural engineer and takes thousands of pictures in no time.

B&H is excellent if you live nearby

July 10, 2009 8:34 pm at 8:34 pm #795063ddParticipantAbout 15-10 years ago I bought a camcorder from B&H. I had never heard of B&H before, but after I did my research online, I found that B&H had an outstanding reputation. It’s a real kiddush haShem when an obviously frum Jewish store develops a reputation for mensch-like practices. I hope they’ve maintained that reputation.
July 12, 2009 4:37 am at 4:37 am #795064BemusedParticipantCan any of the experts here explain the primary differences between a point and shoot camera, such as the Sony Cybershot W120, and a more “comprehensive” cameras such as the Panasonic Lumix L78 (both taken from the website recommended in a post above)?
Thanks!

I bought the Canon SD790 IS about seven months ago, and am happy with it.
It takes very decent pictures, can function as a point-and-shoot, and also has some more advanced features.
It is small enough to fit pretty comfortably into a shirt pocket.
I’ve seen it advertised for under $200.00 recently, including at Adorama which is a Shomer Shabbos place (as is B&H).

July 16, 2009 2:17 pm at 2:17 pm #795068JosephParticipantI believe Canon has a much better reputation.
