October 10, 2011 11:18 pm at 11:18 pm #816291YW Moderator-80Memberthere is such a thing as a milk allergy but most people who supposedly have this are actually lactose intolerant, which can not be treated by allergy shots
October 10, 2011 11:21 pm at 11:21 pm #816292supergirl613MemberMod i’m not lactose intolerant. i know what that means, but i’m completely allergic. i get hives, i get extreme rashes and when i was little i used to go to hospital lots of times. im getting over it but im not there yet. i get so jealous when i see someone eating a dairy product you have no idea!!!
October 10, 2011 11:22 pm at 11:22 pm #816293YW Moderator-80Memberyep sounds like an allergy
October 10, 2011 11:27 pm at 11:27 pm #816294am yisrael chaiParticipant“there is such a thing as a milk allergy”
There’s allergy and sensitivity and intolerance, which are different, depending upon the body’s reaction.
Similar in a way to a body’s different reactions to gluten, etc.
October 10, 2011 11:35 pm at 11:35 pm #816295YW Moderator-80Memberlactose intolerance has nothing to do with sensitivity or allergy.
it is the genetic lack of an enzyme which is necessary to break down lactose in the intestine.
allergies have to do with the bodys overreaction of the immune system to a particular foreign molecule
October 10, 2011 11:36 pm at 11:36 pm #816296bezalelParticipantDairy allergies aren’t that rare I think the percentage of adults with it is about 0.1%. Of course it’s nowhere near the numbers of lactose intolerance.

That was my point…
“which are different”
October 10, 2011 11:39 pm at 11:39 pm #816298supergirl613MemberI have absolutely no idea what you are saying, but in my english language(one that i can actually understand!) lactose intolerant means you take a pill and then you can eat whatever dairy you want.
October 11, 2011 12:17 am at 12:17 am #816299bezalelParticipantDairy allergies are caused by the immune system. Lactose intolerance is caused by the digestive system.
October 11, 2011 5:58 am at 5:58 am #816300HealthParticipantAnd I’m thinking of practicing in the allergy field -it will be a
cinch because it seems like e/o is a Maven. I’ll just read, learn Torah, watch TV and the patients can treat themselves. I won’t have to do anything -it will be great.
