i heard that there are people that have a minhag not to eat pickled meat on rosh hashana. is the minhag for aseres yemei teshuvah too? what is the reason for this minhag? is it a chassidish minhag?
I thought there is a Minhag not to eat anything pickled because pickling produces a sour-ish flavor.
If the meat has a sweet taste then its fine. We don’t eat pickles or foods with viniger that have a bitter or sour taste. This applies only on rosh hashana and not aseres yemai teshuvah.
I know we don’t eat pickles, olives, hot peppers, horseradish or anything sour/sharp flavored until Shmini Atzeres. No pickled meat?? never heard that, but like sam2 said, maybe bec of the sour flavor
i think it adds a great flavor to the meat Lchovod tom tov-i mean whats y”t without corned beef?
The no pickling is a new one to me!
It’s brought in the kitzur shulchan aruch not to eat pickled foods.
