better safe than sorry. An emergency landing is a potential crash prevented.

Shrek lol! My question is if you put your baby on your lap, and let’s say the oxygen masks come down, are you going to tell me the baby doesn’t get one from the airline because you didn’t pay??

    #756083

SMS007, There are plenty of oxygen masks to go around. Remember to put the baby’s on first befor you put yours on.

If you think the recent spate of airplane structural problems is scary, google “Aloha Airlines flight 243”. And remember, the plane landed safely.

    Raphael,

According to safety guidelines, I believe you’re supposed to put yours on first. Halachically and practically speaking, I don’t know.

For sure babys mask first, but its kinda freaky to think about…. do they get all the same safety stuff??? Otherwise, my baby is getting a seat if we ever fly…

    #756087

    a23 is absolutely correct

your own mask goes on before the baby

i imagine its because if the parent passes out, whos going to put the mask on the baby and keep it in place

It was once pointed out to me that airplane crashes come in threes. This rule never failed me.

Well there’s no doubting the gravity of these situations.

there are plenty of oxygen masks to go around

Even on Poppa’s flight? You know, the one with that mother feeding triplets the entire flight?

    HaLeivi-

Torah observant Jews are forbidden from being superstitious. Saying that crashes come in threes is not like saying “three on a match” – the former has no basis in reality and is mere superstition, while the latter has a factual explanation.

An observation is the exact opposite of a superstition.
