What restrictions are there on folding a Talis on Shabbos? As I understand it, you can fold it, but you can’t fold it on the pressed lines.
And as far as hanging up clothing for the night on Shabbos, my understanding is that you can’t hang your pants on the hanger on the pressed lines.
The halacha can be found in ???? ??.
According to some, folding on the creases is a problem. This seems to be the halacha in the Shulchan Aruch. The Aruch Hashulchan however says ?????? ???? and he explains that our folding is not the kind of folding that is assur.
R’ Ovadia in Yechaveh Da’as 2:40 says that one should be machmir l’chatchila not to fold on the creases. He adds that one should not protest those who fold normally because they have what to rely on.
Personally, I know a few rabbanim who are meikil l’chatchila.
I thought the problem with folding a tallis is that you are preparing it for the next Shabbos. Also there is an inyan to fold it on motzei Shabbos.
Both are muttar l’chatchila according to many, as I said. Ask your rav.
There is one reason why folding clothing on a hanger is better, and that is that you will use it again on Shabbos, see the Shulchan Aruch. But once you get involved in those considerations it’s going to get complicated, and you need to see the teshuvos.

As far as I know, folding on the creases should not be done on Shabbos – whether its a tallis, a tablecloth, or clothing. Hanging up pants will be a problem, but hanging up a skirt or jacket that doesn’t get folded in the process is fine. (If you are in the habit of leaving your clothes on the back of a chair, Shabbos afternoon is not the time to start hanging things up.:) )

Interesting. I was told that you can fold it, but only if the next time that you will use it is a shabbos, not a Yom Tov (Or Vice versa, including another day of YT).

I don’t remember anymore. I recall it had to do something with being oisek in a mitzvah somehow. Maybe since its a hachanah l’Shabbos? I have to try to remember where I saw it.

Yes. I would say that in the shule where I grew up, 95% of the men left their tallitot bunched up on their seats, and folded them after Shabbat. I do this as well. I heard that folding it right after Shabbat is a segula for shalom bayit over the new week.

my husband was told its a segulah for shalom bayis if you don’t leave your tallis unfolded overnight after shabbos; hence, folding it motzei shabbos.

You can fold it on the crease if it was never washed.
the OP sounds like he knows the halacha. are you asking or just making sure that everyone else knows that Halacha too? Either way I heard the same as you so…. thank you

That is, if you don’t count Rav Scheinberg shlita who holds that it’s a bizayon hatalis if you don’t fold it and put it away.
Many don’t fold it at all…they sort of roll the talis and fold it after shabbos. According to the poskim who allow folding, it’s even on the crease because they hold that we are not experts today in knowing the art of folding that it should be so perfect.
