“Do U Charge Friends?” reminded me of something Iv been wondering about..
Iv had a long friendship with someone and I never charged her for something. Its been a while, and I feel like things have changed. Iv started feeling like Im being a little taken advantage of, but that person got totally comfortable not paying. It doesnt even occur to her to pay. Now what?

April 5, 2011 4:11 pm at 4:11 pm #756103My .02MemberOnce some one is used to getting something for nothing, they will never feel good about paying you for it, regardless of how politely you request payment. The best scenario is to discontinue services to her in a tactful way i.e. just keep telling her you are behind on your other work, and just won’t be able to get to her. Eventually she will get the hint. It is not good for your self esteem to let some one take advantage of you.

which is why we have to work on being constantly be grateful to Hashem for all the kindliness he showers upon us every moment, every breath, every heartbeat, every moment we are alive.
April 5, 2011 4:23 pm at 4:23 pm #756106trak443Participantsend out an email to “all your friends who get free services” (make sure to put “all” their names in the “bcc” area), informing “all” of them that unfortunately starting after Pesach you can no longer afford to give “ANYONE” free services.

Good point!
By the same token that a basar vadam expects to be acknowledged, appreciated and even compensated lest they be considered an ingrate, we should expect as much of ourselves and consciously count our blessings and thank H-shem for it. And just as we want to continue helping some one who appreciates us, so will H-shem.

No, they will only charge you for moderation.
