Mine was fine, but my wife had a very rough one. She wasn’t feeling well, and asked our Rav what to do. He told her to go home and sleep. She replied that she had to watch our kids, and couldn’t sleep. He told her that R’ Shlomo Zalman has a teshuva about this case, and he wrote that in such a case, the husband should go home from shul and watch the kids so the wife can rest.

Of course, my wife didn’t tell me he said that until I got home from shul after Maariv. Now I know for next year!

Feif Un, I hope your wife has a better fast next year. I was in bed all day but that is what I have to do if I want to make it though the fast.

Fasts are always easy when they end at 5:50 or so.

The davening was fantastic. (For those of you reading the “fast minyanim” thread, no, I didn’t daven at my usual minyan. I walked to a local hesder yeshiva where I’ve enjoyed the most fantastic YK davening every year for the past 4 years.)

I didn’t fast b/c of a medical condition, so I had to eat small amounts of yogurt & water every ten minutes (which is not considered eating).

Feif Un & Imaofthree – “Mine was fine, but my wife had a very rough one. She wasn’t feeling well, and asked our Rav what to do. He told her to go home and sleep.”

Check out the CR topic called “Fasting Tablets”, where you will find different solutions to help you fast w/o actually breaking it.

“i love this yomtov so much”

Wondering if the women preparing a 3-day yom tov menu feel the same way

AYC I know what you mean, because I go through baking and cooking for a 3 day yom tov every year. But after you finish cooking a and baking and the candles are lit, the food is served, and people take portions and they compliment you on your fabulous cooking. I love getting compliments. It means your work paid off. Sukkos is my favorite yom tov by far!!

Do you mean that you don’t enjoy the actual process of the food preparation, only the result?

And how about all those hours of work preparing (for some people in the CR it’s been months!) and then in a relatively short time, it’s all gone?

Mine was a little hard during the afternoon but the day seemed to fly by and the fast pretty much easy. Is that a good thing?

My fast was ok, besides for my headache and dizzy spells;)

AYC: I absolutely LOVE to cook and bake. The preparation and all. And yes, I’ve been busy in the kitchen to answer you before! I enjoy working hard, and see others enjoying what I produced. The feeling in itself is rewarding!
