With gratitude to Hashem Yisborech and with the encouragement of my devoted Ezer K’negdo, I would like to inform you that I have finished the entire Shas, Bavli and Yerushalmi, the Tur and all four parts of Shulchan Oruch! I am very proud of my accomplishment and I don’t mind if you have kinas sofrim to try to catch up with me.

I will now embark on the continuation of my accomplishments by cleaning out the remaining seforim on the next bookcase of Rishonim, Achronim and Shaylos and Tshuvos. (In the one remaining room that I left for bedikas chometz on Or L’Arba Asor)

There is a story in EY where someone said, I saw Israel today, so he asks him, and what did you do in the afternoon? How much time did it take? In hebrew or in english?

BneiBarakObama – you too can finish Shas! Just start with once mesechta at a time and before you know it all 20 volumes of the Vilna Shas will be cleaned for pessach. Then continue with the Tur and Shulchan Aruch and you will soon be finished them too. You will feel so proud of the tremendous accomplishment. It is a great feeling to announce: I finished the entire shas, all of tur and all of shulchan oruch, boruch Hashem!

In one of the Chasam Sofer’s teshuvos he apologizes to his correspondent for the brevity of his response, explaining that he has no access to his seforim because the נשים צדקניות have expelled him from his study so they can clean it for Pesach.

Mazel tov!!! I am 90% through my second Bavli daf yomi cycle and am also about a third of the way into Yerushalmi Bikkurim having completed all the other tractates of Yerushalmi Seder Zeraim. I have not learned a lot of the poskim though; maybe that will be next. I also have only learned a few tractates of Mishnayot Seder Taharot so I don’t claim to have learned all of Shas.

I encourage everyone to take on challenging learning — I had little background when I started and there are many shiurim and aids that can help.

Milhouse, that’s really funny! Could you look up where the T’shuva is?

    #1709671

    hereinsb, here it is –

    Milhouse,
Besides the Chasam Sofer – apologizes to his correspondent for the brevity of his response, explaining that he has no access to his seforim because the נשים צדקניות have expelled him from his study so they can clean it for Pesach.

Also the Nodeh B’Yehuda – apologizes to his correspondent for the brevity of his response, explaining that he has no access to his seforim because he was expelled from room to room as they clean it for Pesach.

there is a second mention of this in Chasam Sofer:

That the query arrived during unsettled days when these women move around everything (during cleaning) from corner to corner, that even my seforim are misplaced and cannot be accessed.
