September 21, 2010 4:03 am at 4:03 am #697590HealthParticipantThere are 2 frum lady dentists in Lakewood. There are a lot of frum male dentists everywhere.

umm, you can imagine a yeshivishe mother dentist servicing frum male patients??
don’t kid yourself.
September 21, 2010 10:04 am at 10:04 am #697594pascha bchochmaParticipantso right: What do you think yeshivishe physical and occupational therapists have to do? That’s right, they have to treat men, and yet this is seen as a fine profession. So do doctors and dentists (dentistry actually requires less touching than all the other ones I mentioned.)
And how is it better for a male dentist to be treating female patients?
September 21, 2010 10:08 am at 10:08 am #697595minyan galMemberso right – What would be the difference between a female dentist seeing a male patient and a female doctor seeing a male patient? In fact, I don’t think that I can EVER remember being alone in a room with my dentist – there is always an assistant present – and I have been alone with my doctor most of the time.

September 22, 2010 2:33 am at 2:33 am #697598Dr Bert MillerParticipantPoppa, I had a nightmare last night that 10 people posted what you said. Or did that actually happen?
Health, charlie, pascha, so right, minyan gal-why’d you choose that name? – tomim, and ICOT; thank you all for your responses (fine poppa, you too!). I looked up the price of dental school per semester – it’s pretty high. I don’t know if I should go into that or dental hygienist (sp?)or something else. I like the idea of dentistry because it pays very well, I’m not grossed out by looking into other ppl’s mouths :), flexible hours, you can work just a few days a week and still make a very decent salary…
DO you guys or anyone else out there have some more ideas about dentistry or another profession?
Thank you!

Why don’t you look into Ultrasound Technician? It’s great pay and depending on your area of expertise, you will only work with female patients. Healthcare operations are always looking for good technicians.
