I am not insulted. Why?
If someone who knew me would say these things about me, I would be hurt.
So why am I not insulted when it is said here?
I think probably because I know that the person writing it does not know me, and so, I don’t at all think his comments actually reflect on me.
However, it could be only because this wasn’t an area I am sensitive about, and if it had hit close to home, I would be hurt.
I don’t know.
Here are the comments. I am not including the posters screenname, since I actually do not take it personally.

It makes me feel a little better about some of the times I insulted people here.
That was a classic attempt at winning an argument not on merit or proof, rather by taking a cheap-shot. Whenever I see cheap-shots, I automatically assume that the person handing it is wrong. Why else would they stoop to this?

The problem is, in many arguments, both sides take cheap shots. (I am not necessarily referring to the argument which prompted this discussion, just making a general observation.)

It might have more to do with the person’s middos than the validity of the specific argument.
Daas Yochid: Whichever poster takes a cheap shot, it becomes difficult to take that poster seriously, in that argument. If A will present a good case and someone else, B, will take his side and dish out an uncalled for insult; to me it would invalidate B, not A. But it’s difficult to take a person, who has to retort to insults, seriously.

Why would you be insulted?
Very simple answer- you hold yourself to be above everyone else here. Do you feel that way about everyone you interact with IRL?
But it’s difficult to take a person, who has to retort to insults, seriously.
Of course it’s difficult, but it’s worth working on, because at times, one can see some truth even if the source is rotten.
There’s a gemara in kesubos that says a person is only insulted if it’s true
There’s a mishna in sotah that says a the price of boshes is all according to the one who embarrased and the one who was embarrased
so it’s probably because you don’t feel what he says is meaningful
