This debate has already been done. Do you really need to do this again? You can’t just find the old debate and see what everyone thinks?

Some folks don’t like hearing or knowing something is assur.

They’re going to do it anyways. And they would rather do it not knowing it’s assur than doing it knowing it’s assur.

Going on cruise is just like going to Las Vegas since the cruise ships have Casinos & as most people know alot of untznious things happen there to say the least. Therefore in my opinion a it’s only muttar to go on a cruise if you are going for business only. It is 100% ossur to go on a cruise just for vacation.

Lots of tznius issues walking on brooklyn and Manhattan streets, in walmart, in Target . Yet no one seems to ask the obvious.
Is it ok to walk on brooklyn streets and shop in walmart/ Target etc.,?

No. It is not assur to go on a cruise, if you can find one that poses zero halachic problems. When you find it, please share it, i would line to go on one.

    Yehudah,

The Star-K published a comprehensive article in their Fall 2018 issue of Kashrus Kurrents which discusses all of the Halachic challenges that can arise on a cruise. It’s available for free on their website; read it carefully to familiarize yourself with the issues and then consult with your LOR.

Read the YWN news story from several weeks ago about all the detailed arrangements made for the frum group that took a cruise to the Anarctic. It is a great illustration of the challenges and the solutions found. Its also one of the greatest videos where the yeshivish-looking penguin in the far background of the guy who is finishing the siyum on the ice seems to be bowing up and down exactly at the moment in the video when the guy is saying “modim anachnu lafanecha…”

    ask your L.O.R.
the idea of a cruise is probably not assur, but there are other problems, like tznius and kashrus.
this is the answer I got when I asked my LOR about a 2 weeks sailing trip

One shouldn’t go, unless it is needed. Even kosher kosher cruise involves frivolous activity.

1: I disagree. We all know thay we arent on his level. I work for a living and do not learn anywhere near what he does. I need vacation to relax, he finds learning relaxing.
I am not saying cruises are kosher. I dont know enough anout the topic. But I dont compare myself to the Rav.

OP: you are asking the question, obviously you think its a problem. Why do you care about the thoughts of random people who have varying standards ?
