Did anyone else notice that some websites will only post articles and letters that ban porch minyonim and not the letters that defend them or allow them. I have seen this done wven when it was the same rabbanim on both letters published just a few days apart

April 26, 2020 3:11 pm at 3:11 pm #1853530too geshmakParticipantObviously all news agencies should be agenda free. However to Joseph, to call banning porch minyanim a “left wing” agenda, makes you sound ignorant of the halachic debate. The bottom line is that we (I do daven on my block in a socially distant porch minyan) are relying on a tiny miyut of poskim who are relying on one “ephsher” in a Rashba, to create these Minyanim in a shas had’chak. And many of them are not k’dai because they are done in a way that wont work anyways.
April 26, 2020 9:33 pm at 9:33 pm #1853691JosephParticipanttoo geshmak: It is correct that those rabbonim that advocate davening b’yechidus are certainly not left-wing and are advancing an honest halachic position that is equal in seriousness and earnestness as the other rabbonim who advocate socially distant minyanim such as porch minyanim. All that goes without saying.
But the tipshim individuals who publish editorials against those rabbonim who permit minyanim because their left-wing boich doesn’t like it and think they are qualified to pick and choose which set of rabbonim are right and wrong, is who I was referring to. Only them.

I beg you to explain the basis of your outlook. What does it mean to not pick your Rabbonim? Everyone I know formulates their questions, finds or randomly chooses someone to ask, without asking whom to ask! Even more shocking, if they feel like they are not getting clarity etc. they will go ask someone else until they are satisfied!!!!!!!!! Please respond, because you bring this up on every topic.April 27, 2020 2:46 pm at 2:46 pm #1853952Doing my bestParticipant@too geshmak
Look at shulchan aruch siman נה sif יד- טו. Very clear that all a minyan needs is that all mispallelim see the chan or vice versa.April 28, 2020 4:54 pm at 4:54 pm #1854568too geshmakParticipantDoing my best,
You are correct to point out the Shulchan Aruch, however if you look at the Biur Halacha he explains that this idea that one only needs to see each other originates in a daas yochid in the rishonim, namely a Tshuvos HaRashba, and even the Rashba is only saying it as an “efsher”. Therefore he says better not t rely on this. However as the Mishna Berurah says in s”k nun zayin, in a shaas hadchak one could rely on this shitah. As I stated, I do daven in such a minyan, although I never would under normal circumstances -
