I have a thought, and I want to know what people think. So here goes:

During the American Revolution and even before, Nova Scotia was a hotbed of Patriot activity. Ergo, when we won, it should’ve joined us. Also, there is a feeling within N.S. that it is not properly represented.

Therefore, I propose that Nova Scotia and Cuba join the U.S. I present four options below.

    A. Allow both in. B’rov am…

    B. Annex Nova Scotia, leave Cuba

    C. Annex Cuba, leave Nova Scotia

    D. No way! We got enough problems!

If you answered A or B, please choose whether N.S. should…

    1. Be absorbed into its neighbor, Maine

    2. Join the Union as a separate State

If you answered A or C, please choose whether Cuba should…

    1. Join the U.S. as a Commonwealth like Puerto Rico

    2. Join its neighbor, Florida

    3. Join the Union as its own State

(Personally, I’m inclined to support the annexation of both, with N.S. joining as a State and Cubsa as a Commonwealth.)

I would take Nova Scotia as a State (as well as all the other Canadian provinces as States — with the possible exception of Quebeq), and leave Cuba on its own. I would also let Puerto Rico become an independent country.

PacMan: How nice of you to offer to take all of the Canadian provinces as states. And just how do you know that we Canadians are interested in being Americans and part of the US? In fact, if you polled most Canadians you would find that we are not interested in joining your country. We are extremely happy as we are. Fagedaboutit!

Give Me A Break: Do just that – give me a break.

Neither of you are politicians and basically have no idea what you are talking about and what the implications of your proposals mean.

A few years ago, when the Partie Quebecois was activly pushing for Quebec independence, there weret what would happen to the Maritimes if Quebec became an independent nation, as they would be physically cut off from the rest of Canada. There was serious talk that they might join the U.S. so the premise of this thread is not so far fetched.

While several years ago the PQ discussed independence for Quebec, the average citizen didn’t want it. In our recent election, the PQ were trounced badly and barely have representation of any kind in Ottawa. The citizens of Quebec didn’t just speak – they shouted!

Sorry minyan gal. I think we gonna annex Canada.

On the bright side, you can soon get an American Passport!

I would accept the western provinces, and the far eastern ones. But not Ontario and Quebec. After all, what’s the point of getting all the natural resources if they come with a bunch of lefties who won’t let us exploit them.

Also, I would only let them join as one big state, so that they don’t take over the senate. 10 new states would add 20 senators. Not a good idea.

Like maybe Yukon and Northwest Territories could just become part of Alaska. And BC could become part of Washington state. We don’t want Newfoundland because they kill baby seals.
