July 13, 2009 2:17 pm at 2:17 pm #1223131mepalMember9 BOYS?!?!?! Heavens! (I’m imagining he’d be the ‘tzenter’!) The poor woman…
July 13, 2009 2:21 pm at 2:21 pm #1223132JosephParticipantHopefully 10 boys, considering the cost to make a shidduch for a girl LOL!
July 13, 2009 2:30 pm at 2:30 pm #1223133mepalMemberHow about the extra cost for a shalom zachur? bris? bar mitzva? Boys aren’t too cheap either! But of course girls are more ‘expensive’. Although, (if he’s from the litvish/heimish circles) at least he’ll have an easier time with shidduchim 😉
July 13, 2009 2:40 pm at 2:40 pm #1223134JosephParticipantCan’t argue with that. And don’t forget pidyon haben, upsherin, etc.
July 13, 2009 4:30 pm at 4:30 pm #1223135BasYisroel2ParticipantMAzel tov PM and to your wife and your future established minyan!

mepal: oh have i got up to the intense part! it seems like there are only tests, tests, and you guessed it, more tests!
July 14, 2009 11:34 am at 11:34 am #1223141PMMemberThank you all very much for the best wishes. Its now 6 boys and 4 girls, so we’ll have to wait ’till the girls are married to have a private minyan.
July 14, 2009 12:46 pm at 12:46 pm #1223142JosephParticipantAt least there are more boys… it is what we call a good start. 🙂
July 14, 2009 1:05 pm at 1:05 pm #1223143JosephParticipantPM: Rather than waiting to marry off the girls, it may just be quicker to add to the count of boys…
July 14, 2009 2:26 pm at 2:26 pm #1223144mepalMemberJoseph, maybe if you offer to take care of all of ’em…
July 14, 2009 2:48 pm at 2:48 pm #1223145JosephParticipantFree babysitting for the next 4 boys.
July 14, 2009 4:14 pm at 4:14 pm #1223146mepalMemberNiiiiice! Will it be you or your wife doing the services?
July 14, 2009 5:39 pm at 5:39 pm #1223148PMMemberJoseph: Let’s see. In 13 years there will be 6 bar mitzva boys plus me for 7. My third girl is 3 1/2 now, almost 17 by then. It would probably be a close call if a 7th son could reach bar mitzva before her chasuna, but it’s worth a try.
July 14, 2009 5:47 pm at 5:47 pm #1223149PMMemberI’m flattered that people seem so impressed, but really it isn’t as hard as you might think. Sure the older children have more responsibilities and the younger ones more independence then in a small family, but these are valuable traits in moderation. We manage to give each child some personal attention and each one is able to develop in his or her unique way. I don’t think they would be happier or better off in a smaller family. Sure it is a challenge to balance, but life is all about challenges.
Anyways this is nothing. My 14 year old son has a classmate who’s mother just had triplets, making him the oldest of 19!!!!! This is not a typo.
July 14, 2009 6:14 pm at 6:14 pm #1223150mepalMemberPM, you mean they’re all still single? Are there boys away at yeshiva at least??
and OMG, 19? Hashem should give the woman strength…
July 14, 2009 6:17 pm at 6:17 pm #1223151JosephParticipantPM: So why the delay? You have 9 to catch-up!!
