From a person with inside perspective…
If one turns away from someone who is “off the derech”, and continuously makes them feel like garbage, then do not come to them Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, or nebech, when there is illness, death or tragedy, and beg forgiveness.
There will be no mechilah.
So, consider this before asking for mechilah, that perhaps the better course of action is to not commmit the action in the first place, and then mechilah will not have to be asked. Just my two cents.
Did the person who went off the derech yet seek mechila for going off the derech?
Vochindik,
Isn’t that between man and God, not between Man and Man? It’s not for you to judge, unless suddenly you became a holy diety and no one noticed.
In that vein, PuhLease, the guy who made the OTD guy feel like garbage is only an issue between that guy and the OTD guy, and no one else. So don’t bother us with his non-moichel thing, just as he doesn’t want to be bothered about his otd-aveiras.
