People must MAKE SURE TO CHECK THEIR OXYGEN LEVELS and vitals frequently as soon as they see ANY of the main signs of Coronavirus (fever, coughing, weakness). Most people think that if someone is having trouble breathing, they will notice it and then deal with it if need be. The truth is that in many, many cases, the low oxygen level was NOT OBVIOUS (ie because the person was NOT having difficulty breathing or at least it wasn’t obvious to them). Also extreme weakness could be a sign of pneumonia or other problems and they should NOT just wait out the sickness in bed without being constantly monitored (in person!) As per the guidance of many rabbanim, please a call a reputable doctor or Hatzolah for a pulse oximeter (to measure oxygen saturation) and to discuss symptoms right away even on Yom Tov! If the low oxygen level is caught and dealt with EARLY, (usually with an oxygen machine and medications that help the lungs heal) it can prevent the situation from becoming critical ch’v and often prevent hospitalization.

PLEASE DON’T TAKE CHANCES on Yom Tov!!

CORONAVIRUS is PIKUACH NEFESH — — PLEASE READ and spread to all your contacts especially people in other communities.

All this advice is saying is for a person with symptoms to ask Hatzala or a doctor to measure their oxygen level, even before they have difficulty breathing. This is good advice and not something that needs to come from a doctor. There is no downside. My father had the virus and Hatzala checked his oxygen and it was lower than normal. He spent a few days in the hospital on oxygen and some other midicines and is back home and recovering now.

Thank you for the positive feedback because it could save more lives. There are many doctors right now that are giving bad advice because they simply don’t understand enough about the virus yet (as seen in the first comment here and in the mailbag written a short while back on YWN where the doctor was advising over the PHONE, not monitoring the situation in person and then the father collapsed). I fully agree that people should not just follow any and every one. please see my former post https://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/coronavirus-check-oxygen-levels-regardless-of-how-they-are-breathing

Since there is a real risk to the heart with hydroxychloroquine it may be helpful for people to first try (using a nebulizer with collidial silver or other things people have been putting into it that helped in order to improve breathing. (assuming it is not too serious yet)
