I am quite an old timer here too, though I am in and out.
hey aussieboy, haven’t read from you in a while, and could to see you back in the CR. I am still around, but doing more lurking. I just haven’t been posting as much. I rather read, unless something interesting turns up and just have to reply, like this thread. But it does seem like there are many new members and alot of the old times have drifted off. I feel the CR has kind of changed. So if your reading, just let us know your around.

I thought you are not allowed to have a few usernames?? I am confused! I have also wondered were they all went…. It became quite boring the last few weeks over here
You are NOT allowed to have more than one user name. However the moderators are pretty lenient about this generally as long as you simply switch from one to another and don’t go back and forth, especially during the same period of time.
Some of the ex-posters probably got bored, some left because they felt they were developing an addiction, some who consistently were getting their posts edited or deleted (for reasons I won’t go into) got frustrated and gave up.
Charedim Kol Yisroel was quite a asset to the site, I must say. He was clever, polite and thorough. Sammygol was hillarious and sharp. Then there was a poster named Yossi Brisuk, Midwesterner and ofcourse our resident lefty liberal, ILLINI.
I also recall Sarah.
Many of these bloggers are missing. Some cos they wer challenging, and others because they wre very qualified…..
I miss sqeak, Jphone, asdfgh, ames and another few which i cant recall their names at this moment.

There may also be people who stopped posting because something obnoxious was said to them, and they were not able to let it roll off. Many people are timid about posting, and when they finally get up the courage and are insulted, they go back into lurker mode.

Well, I have not been around so long, but I do recognize many of the names you listed, Mod 42.
We all have to remember that pple have lives outside of the CR and change happens. Sometimes sad, but change can be good, too. 🙂

A few others that come to mind;

People have babies, get new jobs, change schedules, have kids who need the computer, etc. I am only on-line when no one else in my family needs to be, or if I have some free time in-between things I am doing (i.e. babysitting my granddaughter, while she naps, or doing laundry, etc.). There are a myriad of reasons why people may or may not be posting these days. It’s their prerogative, either way.

I had a baby and got busy. Plus, I got hooked on imamother.com which is much less moderated. Its not that I want to say anything wrong, it just makes me FEEL like I can express myself better.
I’ll probably start getting back in now…

I come back only when time permits or when there is a really good discussion. Right now, due to legal holidays and impossible weather, time permits. Next week that changes except for motzoei Shabbos bc Shabbos ends so early here.
