Fresh
1. Fill basin with water and mild soap or special veggie wash (such as Tsunami 100).
Note: When using soap, use only a food grade cleanser that meets all federal, state, and local regulations. The water should have enough soap to make it feel slippery.
2. Soak strawberries while agitating the water.
3. Rinse strawberries under a stream of water.
4. It is preferable to cut off the top together with a small amount of the flesh.
5. Strawberries may now be used.
Frozen
Whole berries are acceptable. Ideally, one should purchase the fruit pureed or puree them prior to use.

Why – if there are bugs in them, are they in them any less, when pureed?

Yet where I live (won’t say where since the mods might delete if I do!), these methods are not accepted regarding locally produced strawberries. ( and as far as I know- imported strawberries are also no good…)
October 28, 2010 3:46 am at 3:46 am #704016sms007Memberwhere i live, strawberries recently became ossur unless cleaned through a very thorough washing (more thorough than what the mod listed) i’m pretty sure you have to cut off the whole skin in addition to a vigorous washing- pretty much wasn’t worth it lol. frozen ones were ok though i think, and pureed. they were infested
