February 23, 2011 2:20 am at 2:20 am #836101yossi z.MemberBeing stuck in between being not able to do anything yet having to be responsible and everything like a full adult. Then again it is kind of preparation for later life like having to do mitzvos and stuff before bar mitzvah

b”h for that that teens cant buy alcohol until there 21 hopefully by then a person is a bit more mature and knows better what they want from themselves
yossi-
thats what a teen is all about preparation for being a adult 🙂
teenagers are still dependent o a little on their parents but also have to learn how to be independent

i fully understand u be thankful that u dont have to work yet and support a family when the time comes for u to work ……..
teenagers have to learn how to be independent but still have to be dependnt on our parents a little imagine what the world would look like if ttens did exactly what they wanted without guidance and support and leadership
good luck 🙂

not being fully valued or listened to because “you’re just a teen and we’re adults and know better.” Heads up…sometimes you don’t.

How old are you? People get married as young as 17, and certainly 18.

whats the rush?
February 23, 2011 4:39 am at 4:39 am #836114Shmuel294MemberI found that during my teenaged years my parents were the hardest part of my life because they were always scared that u was gonna go OTD so two were always trying to control me. As for school, what’s so bad about going to a place where you get to learn, work on your arguing skills and make friends?
February 23, 2011 4:46 am at 4:46 am #836115charliehallParticipant“not being able to get married yet “
If you are sixteen, you can get married almost everywhere in the US as long as your parents consent. A few states will even allow younger people to get married, but permission of a secular court may be required. Halachah would actually permit someone to get married as soon as they are bar or bat mitzvah, but we have to follow secular law as well.
February 23, 2011 5:07 am at 5:07 am #836116observanteenMemberTo build the foundation of your life. These are the crucial yrs that forms a person. It’s hardest to decide which goals to set and which path to pursue.
February 23, 2011 6:35 am at 6:35 am #836117mom12ParticipantI am not a teen..but I do have teenaged children..
only got one thing to say: the time flies by so fast enjoy your teenage years and the fact that you r not ‘attached’.
My ‘in her 20’s’ daughter, only wants to be a teenager again..
Enjoy the freedom and the fact that your not being constantly looked after (if your not shidduch age, that is)
GOOD LUCK — try to find the good in each stage of life
February 23, 2011 12:09 pm at 12:09 pm #836118Shticky GuyParticipantIts hard cos teenagers always think they know better, and sometimes they really do, but they must still learn to accept authority and this seems to be difficult for most of them, as i’m sure it was for me during my teenage years.
Why are they called ‘teenagers’? Vayl zai teen vus zai vill…
February 23, 2011 1:19 pm at 1:19 pm #836119yossi z.MemberOne of my favorite quotes about teens: when you are younger you think your parents are so dumb and when you get older you are amazed at how much they learned in so few years …

February 24, 2011 1:14 am at 1:14 am #836123mischiefmakerMemberI have found parents and teachers to be wrong. They think they know everything and the teen knows nothing but I’m a teen and I don’t think I know everything and that’s why I ask and there are times that adults can also admit to mistakes! You don’t either know everything! Yes, teenage years are tough…We had another thread on that.
Also, I know a girl in 11th grade who just got engaged so you technically can although I wouldn’t.
February 24, 2011 11:26 pm at 11:26 pm #836124i said soMembermischiefmaker-
fact in life ppl make mistakes and no no one should think og themselves that they dont make mistakes only angels dont make mistakes when u realize ur wrong u got to admit it! (thats key #1)
February 25, 2011 1:39 am at 1:39 am #836125mischiefmakerMemberThat’s precisely what I was trying to say.
February 25, 2011 1:45 am at 1:45 am #836126guy-ochoMemberTums: since when can’t u buy alcohol. i have been getting alcohol and cigarretes since 12 yrs. old. just gotta know where 2 go.

February 25, 2011 1:57 am at 1:57 am #836128guy-ochoMemberobservanteen: how old r u that ur not innocent anymore. If they’re on CR, they’re probably trying to get a little educated. btw thats what the mods r here 4. They wouldnt post it if it was harmful.
